ᴥ Miss K ᴥ thirty.
Classic Hollywood lover and serial archivist with my camera. Traveling all the time, either in my head or in my car/by plane or by train. Vivien Leigh. Julie Christie. Audrey Hepburn. I ♥ the Beatles. Mark Knopfler. Glen Campbell. & more Classic Country music. Victoriana. 1980's fads. I like butter on cantaloupe. I just thought you should know that.
At the moment, my current little obsessions: Norma Shearer films; John Sloan (American Impressionist artist); new pillowcases; owls; new rugs; and my revived love of classic films.
Just a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

Robert Montgomery photographed by George Hurrell.
I never realized what a cool fandom Robert Montgomery has here on Tumblr! It’s not even too close to his birthday and he gets a healthy 4-5 postings a day on Tumblr or maybe more that I haven’t counted.
He’s one of the few famous classic actors out there that I happen to share a birthday with (May 21st). If I were born on May 20th, I would’ve shared it with Jimmy Stewart and Cher and if I’d been born a day later, May 22nd, Laurence Olivier and I would be birthday buddies. I kinda like being sandwiched between Jimmy Stewart and Laurence Olivier. Not too shabby!

Laurence Olivier, 1933, by George Hurrell
Hurrell noted that Olivier, at this time in his career, was not easy to amuse during this photo session. Olivier was rather bored and just seemed to go through the motions, however, Olivier still comes out looking smashing in this photo shoot, thanks to Hurrell’s tireless efforts to get the slightest look of interest from his sitter.

Joan Crawford, posing for a still from the movie “Grand Hotel” for George Hurrell, 1932.
Hurrell would note that Crawford was his most frequent and tireless sitter, often even exhausting him by not running out of energy to take more and more photos. This may be why we see so many photos of her by Hurrell.

Ann Sheridan, the Oomph Girl, 1940’s - photographed by George Hurrell
When the “Hurrell’s Hollywood” book came out in the late ’90s, I was drooling all over it, but it cost SO much. I asked for it for Christmas a few times, but never got it. Now you see them at libraries and Amazon.com for a decent price. I am going to get it soon!
(This photo of Ann is taken from another book I love and own, called “Hollywood Portraits” by Roger Hicks. I purchased it in 2002)
